Parity
Keeping Parity on the road is our pleasure!
LMF are always trying to keep in touch with our chosen charities and help out when we can.
We had an application for funds from Parity for Disability that we simply could not ignore.
Parity operates a fleet of 6 minibuses which are in constant use by 55 people with multiple disabilities aged 18+ that use their day services in Camberley, Mytchett and Farnborough.
Their caring staff support the students to access the local community and explore opportunities most of us take for granted. Although Parity do receive fees from some local authorities they are not allowed to apply income to the minibus fleet costs.
Yet we know this a vital service to even get students to and from the day centres. A recent survey with parents revealed that over 79% agree that they see the positive effects when their loved ones are given the freedom to travel and explore the community.
£1,500 will operate the whole of the Parity fleet over a full month so that the students, at great risk of isolation and decline, can keep experiencing the world, planning countless trips out and meeting new people, using this flexible and accessible transport. Families and carers receive respite, knowing their loved one is happy and safe.
We could not think of a better donation than one that gives the amazing students and staff at Parity the opportunity to get out and enjoy the access we all use every day without a thought. How many miles will Parity clock up? We hope it is lots and that enjoy the ride!
