A Maverick Superstar.🤼‍♀️

A Maverick Superstar – Supporting the youth of today to be the stars of tomorrow.

Back in July last year we received a compelling personal application for funds from a bright positive and passionate sporting superstar called Charlotte Jennings Evans who lives in Lightwater. Charlotte was just 16 and already a Regional Club, Franchise and National netball player. This determined young lady never lets, injury, distance or funds get in her way to achieve and exceed her sporting goals.

• In March 2019 she was honoured to represent wales U17 at Netball Europe at a 3 -day tournament in Huddersfield where she gained 4 Caps and a silver medal. Having to travel to Wales one or twice a month to attend training for the National Squad.

• In May 19 her Eagles club secured a place in the National Club Finals and once again over a 2 -day tournament they achieved a silver medal in a tough final.

• July 19 as Vice Captain for her franchise Saracens Mavericks U17s she went to Nottingham for the National Performance League franchise tournament and once again came back with a silver medal.

At all levels of involvement in most sports comes the tough calls and obstacles such as injuries and of course funds for kit, travel costs and sometimes accommodation costs for accompanying guardians, some costs are subsidised but sadly as you progress funds become harder to secure. Teams and parents are always fundraising and adding in what they can while continuing to train and compete.

Charlottes letter was one that stood out, despite difficulties with ever increasing funding requirements she remains focused determined and positive because she knows that from hard work and positive attitude good results will often follow.

The request we received was a clear well written application for a financial boost to allow a local girl to pursue her goal to achieve and exceed. How could we resist!!

We made an exception to help a single local individual to progress and move forward and she has certainly proved she was worth the investment, as she goes from strength to strength.

• September 19 was the start of franchise trials for the next season, Charlotte gained a place on the Saracens Mavericks Long Squad and after further hard work she also gained a place in the competitive short squad in November.

• On the 1sT Feb 2020 she travelled to Manchester with her squad to take part in the NPL franchise league against Manchester Thunder and on the 15th takes on London Pulse.

• After her success with the Welsh U17 squad at Netball Europe, Charlotte achieved a place in U21 long squad.

• Despite a knee sprain in early December, Charlotte has undergone rehab with excellent physio support, she is still able to play and train with the aid of a brace and is working and training to maintain her position on court.

This is a story we think is worth shouting about, Charlo

tte is a fabulous role model and ambassador to encourage more of the youth of today to strive to be the

the Stars of Tomorrow no matter what you want to achieve. Looking at the whole picture and trying to navigate around any obstacles in a positive way is always the best path to take.

Positive role models are out there and even they sometimes just need a helping hand/ boost to move forward and achieve the success they are prepared to work so hard for.

Well done Charlotte, keep up the great work ethic and reach for the stars.
