Parity For Disability

Parity for Disability is a local charity providing vital services for children and adults with multiple disabilities living in our community. The charity is dedicated to ensuring profoundly disabled people have access to a quality of life that everyone has a right to expect.

Parity runs two centres, in Farnborough and Camberley, where 32 students receive pioneering individual support to enable them to develop and achieve. They also run three shops in North Camp, Frimley and Church Crookham.

This organisation is always looking for ways to enhance the students experiences and money raised will go many vital needs such as speech therapy and possibly even iPads to bring learning to a more portable, interactive and affordable level. They need to raise in excess of £150,000 a year in order to continue the work they do.

Over the years we have supported Parity for Disability and the many amazing students that attend their three centres. We have been invited to join many of their activities both at the centres and also out and about as they get to discover the world around them together as peers.

This organisation has many projects they want to get off the ground, sadly not all of these fall within the grant funding criteria. As we got to know the staff and the students we saw the need to fund the projects that would make a difference to the students and the parents who so deserve to see their loved ones flourish and grow.

One such project was to fund the maintenance of the Parity buses, which are vital to get the students to and from the centre, as well as taking them out on trips that would otherwise be impossible. These buses are specially adapted and allow students to travel together, safely, as one big group. We knew that funding this project was a no brainer!

We also helped them to fund equipment and activity days out and even provided funds for additional Christmas events that normal budgets might not have stretched to. We gave each centre the opportunity to put a wish list of their idea for a special Christmas event and funded them to make it happen. One centre went to Panto, one centre had a Christmas party, inviting friends and family to join them, and one saved their funds to put on a January event that boosted morale after the excitement of Christmas was over.

The other area we support is funding speech therapy which is not covered by any other funding bodies. we feel this is a vital from of communication that needs constant interaction to allow students to communicate their feelings and issues.

Once you see the work that Parity do to keep students involved, engaged and active you realise just how much of that is down to the amazing staff who go above and beyond. To celebrate them and their work we were delighted to fund the staff to take a table at the Great British Care Awards, where the team succeeded in becoming regional finalists. This amazing team deserved a night out to enjoy celebrating their achievement as an outstanding team of caring, passionate people who put their students first every time.

This charity ensures their students not only have a safe, happy place to go they make sure the students are at the very centre of all they do and allow them to achieve far more than they ever dreamed possible. Check out these two videos we made whilst working with Parity.

We love helping you Parity and making friends with staff and students alike is a pleasure.
